A Really Special Card

Here is a special card I made for a special friend, Gill and her hubby who have just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Quite an achievement isn't it!

I wanted to make a special card, so decided on the hearts nesties and see what happened after that.  I didn't have much of an idea in my head, but it all came together really nicely!

Here you can see the inside more, I used white and gold together. I do love using Nesties to make easel cards, they look really special.  Most of the white parts are glittered too, so it's quite blingy (if there is such a word!).

Enjoy!

Special Card for a Special Person!

Here's the results of all the pink paper and card from WOYWW last week as promised.  I've had to keep it under wraps as it's for Di's birthday and I didn't want to blog it before it had arrived.  The lovely stamp was sent to me by Di, so I had to use it on this card as it was so cute!
I've now figured out how to make stronger boxes with the Trimmer I have - who needs a proper board huh when you can make them like this.  I added a little pearl brad, backed with a spotty pink flower and then at the last minute added some BIG diamond gems to the front of the drawer.
I've made easel cards before many many times, so decided to do something different with this one and made it on a slant.  I added some pretty little flowers I got in the Garden Centre at the weekend, sadly they came with no way of fixing them on the back, so I hope they stay stuck!  You can just see inside some of the little presents I put in there for the birthday girl...!
There are several craft items which you can't see too well from this shot - I put some plain gold tissue paper through the Cuttlebug machine and it worked really well - ideal for presents as you can then personalise them however you want for the recipient.  I also added in some Ferrero Rocher, I somehow think they might be eaten whilst crafting - just don't blame me if you get chocolate on them!
I used some of my bargain paper pad I got the other week on the front and sides of the box, I wish I'd got more than just one now, but hey ho, too late.
Here you can see a close up of the front cover of the card - I used my Promarkers to colour the "Just The Edge" pieces of card, I used two different colours and it changed it dramatically before my very eyes!  As it was being posted and is quite large (I had to do a made to measure version due to the chocolates!) I put some more gems on it, well it is pink and girly isn't it...!

You should've seen me in the shop lifting up all the chocolates to see how deep they were and if I thought they'd fit in the drawer - quite a sight I can tell you and I got some strange looks when I asked if the depth of the sweet could be guessed for me!  You never know what I'm going to do next.....

So watch this space......

Enjoy!

Not a promarker in sight...!! LOL!

This idea came to me after I saw Di's twisted easel card - why not combine the two shapes together?!?!? I don't have any A3 card to make it a nice easy size, but I do have some A4 card, so I made it slightly smaller than I'd planned, but I think it looks kinda cute - what do you think?
I used my Martha Stewart punch to great effect on the base of the card, some Nesties (kindly supplied by Di, so sorry Di, but you're getting your crafty bits back in another form so I hope you don't mind!). I added some little "Crafty Bits" toppers I bought a while back, added some foam pads to lift them up a bit, a 3d butterfly and a few other bits donated here and there.
The orange acetate butterflies came from Craft Fairy Lisa - thanks for those! I used my trusty CB embossing folder and added some tiny gems on to it (the orange spots you can just see on the base!). They were ordered on the internet and when they arrived they were a LOT LOT LOT smaller than advertised. I've now got a technique to use them which is easier.
It should have arrived by now so it's OK to post it here I hope!
Enjoy!

Another Easel Card

You'd never guess, but the theme on this card was purple and silver - LOL!!

With some plain purple cardstock (a freebie I got from the internet!) here is how I made this card...

INGREDIENTS
  • Rounded the edges of the cardstock with a Dovecraft corner rounder punch (purchased from eBay for £2.75 - Dovecraft make it so easy on the fingers/thumbs to punch!)
  • Swirly paper as background (I think this came from a freebie on the internet)
  • Silver mirri card as the backing for the top of the easel card
  • The little bear embellishment came as a set of four from Hobbycraft (in their sale!)
  • I used circles of various purple coloured paper to put beneath the bear embellishment
  • Add small silver flowers
  • Put "Bling" gems in the middle of the flowers to 'lift' the card
  • Sentiment from Di (again!) which came from www.craftworkcards.com
  • Purple card candy (again from Di and www.craftworkcards.com!) in the bigger silver flower

On the flat side of the easel card I used the following:

  • Purple swirly paper for the background
  • Purple card cut with Nestabilities (not mine sadly!)
  • Silver flowers either side of the big Nesties
  • Purple card candy used as a 'stopper' for the card to stand up

This was for a birthday, I hope they liked it, as I never heard from them whether they did or not. Fingers crossed huh!

My First Easel Card!

This is my first attempt at an Easel Card. I like to try different card techniques and styles to keep my little old grey cell going.

There is a (or rather was!) a craft shop fairly near us, but sadly it's closed down now and is an 'Internet Shop' only. I got a few things from there in their "Moving Sale" which then changed to a "Closing Down Sale!".
INGREDIENTS
  • Blue cardstock from my stash (got at a Papercraft Show pre-illness!), corners rounded using the Dovecrafts Punch
  • Backing paper obtained from Carole's Crafts - in their sale for 30p sheet but I was charged 50p instead but didn't notice until I got home....now the Garden Centre has burnt down so no chance of any refund there then!
  • "Happy Birthday" background vellum type paper - in the sale at the Craft Shop only 10p!
  • Car Decoupage I won in a "Lucky Dip Draw" so sorry no details of it on there
  • Matted and layered the backgrounds with the image
  • Scalloped cardstock from a Lucky Dip Draw (again!) and I used a dark blue Card Candy (from Diane via http://craftworkcards.co.uk/ I think!)
  • Silver Peel Offs (a good staple and I have now collected a few for different occasions)

Not bad for a first attempt huh!
