Weetabix Boxes (other cereal boxes are available too!)

Here's what I did with the Weetabix box you're all waiting to see (although this one is All Bran!).  I cut out two A6 sizes and used DST to tape them together.  It doesn't matter which side you tape, I just prefer the plain card on the outside.

I used my nesties to cut a shape in the cardboard.  You can use any shape you like but this one was to hand, perfect for male/female cards.

Put your card inside your embossing folder, and put the cardboard on the top of the embossing folder you have chosen.  Run it through your die cutting machine (I use a Cuttlebug and it worked fine).

Ta-dah!!! Here is your result!  It leaves a plain middle where the shape is on the cardboard.  I've made several different ones and some come out better than others.

 

Of course, don't forget - you can use the 'waste' part of the cardboard to use on other cards.  I embossed them and will add some colour and maybe some glitter or use my cosmic shimmer product (thanks to Gill for that - they are so easy to use!!).

I'll show you some of the finished cards later.  I've even used the cardboard inner of the packaging (remember I used the plastic box and embossed it for cards too!) and you will see that on the next set of cards I upload!).

Hope you all enjoyed this and I'd love to see your cards with using this card instead of buying items which costs loads of pennies which we don't have!!!  A crafter will always thing 'outside of the box' no pun intended!! LOL!!

WOYWW 205

Here on my little "worktray" you can see some new ideas I've been trying out.  I had some plastic packaging I was going to throw in the recycle bin and then changed my mind!  Instead I cut it into A6 sized pieces and put them through my Cuttlebug.  I used some border edges and they are in the process of being made into cards.  I also had some more ideas with the embossed card which you will see made into cards soon.

Also as so many of you were interested in my "Weetabix card" (please note other breakfast cereals are available to use!). I decided to make a small photo tutorial for you which I will post after WOYWW so look out for that one. 

The UFO I saw yesterday (bright yellow circle in the sky, very strange!) has now disappeared and we're back to coats and a nice hot cup of coffee later (my one a day I'm allowed!).

Nothing too exciting on my worktrays this week, but below is something new I've been trying out on my Cuttlebug.

I saw some expensive items in a craft shop the other day and thought......I could do that....hence the broken down Weetabix box in my Cuttlebug.  Might as well give it a try.  I'll let you all see the results in the next WOYWW posting.

Rudolph Day 4 - Something Different....

Rudolph Day is here again. This isn't my usual style, but it came to me when I was using up the remainder of some freebies from a magazine.  I embossed the white card with my Christmas embossing folder and added some pretty Christmas ribbon (bargain 50p!).

I added some lovely red metallic tape from the baubles (the ones I had from last year which I wasn't sure what to do with - I've used them loads this year!)....and then added the red/white baubles and the heart. 

As I said not my usual style but I like it!  I was wondering if I should've put a mat underneath it - after I made it of course - what do you think?  Plain or matted and layered?

WOYWW 203

Yes, it's another WOYWW already - can you believe how quickly they come around? No, me neither.

So, here's what is on my worktray/workbed this week.  I made a couple of quick cards last night to say "Thank you" to some special friends.  Also a birthday card too.

Meanwhile, here's the finished card you saw the beginnings of last week.  I hope you approve/like it.  I love that cute little bear in his wellies chillaxing in the deckchair...cute huh!  Still trying to find out what the backing paper is called if anyone knows!

 

Thanks also to my lovely friend Gill, who has just sent me some more cards to help out my charity cardmaking efforts.  The more the merrier!  They all sell and help raise funds for charities who are going through hard times in this cash reduced time we're all NOT enjoying!

 

Also thanks for the lovely bottles of gloriousness, I've already used them on two cards, which you'll see soon on this little 'ole blog o'mine!!

Here's what is on my work tray today for WOYWW with Julia.  It's for a lovely friends birthday - I think it might be a big number this time!!!  How scary are they?!?!?!

I've got a few things going on here to be honest, I never work on just one card!  I usually have a few items ready for the next one that is being designed in my head! 

If anyone knows what the name of this backing paper is, I'd love to know as I only have one sheet of it left (I got it in a bargain sale!).  You know me and my bargains!

WOYWW 201

I've had these decoupage items for a while and decided now was the time to use them up and raise more funds for charity!  I think they are Honey and Hugs, so cute huh.  I used lots of foam pads as you can see by the little pile sitting there waiting to be spread all over the house a la Queen Julia!

I used this new style of ribbon design, I was hoping to cut down the cost of postage, butI'm sure putting on the extra bling hasn't helped!  I had a wonderful Easter surprise of some crafty items from my lovely friend Gill, and she had enclosed some smaller foam pads (smaller in height) and they are superb!  I'm going to do a test run in town at the Post Office and see if they help keep the postage down in the standard rate.

I posted a couple of cards going to the UK the other day, and they cost me 90p each - the lady in front of me had a card going to Cyprus and hers only cost 80p!!!!  How ridiculous is that then?!?!?!

Here's my 'smile of the week', I went to a Photographic Exhibition which was held in a church and I just had to take some photos of the stained glass windows.  Aren't they glorious!!!!  It was only on my mobile phone so not brilliant, but you can see how good they are above.  My Uncle used to be the President of the Society so it's somewhere we always like to go.

Some Easter cards and 'out of my comfort zone' cards!

 

Here's a not very good photo of some of my Easter cards. I showed you a few I made a couple of weeks back, but these were added when two people said to me "Do you have any spare Easter cards left?" so I had to make them quick!  I think they're cute though so my quick makes made Easter special.

This is something new to me.  First I don't normally make 'flower' cards, but thought I'd have a go at them as I just loved this freebie image I picked up.  I then used my circular nesties to cut out the middle flower and just coloured that one image.  I used foam pads to raise it up although you can't see it too well in these photos.

I used some of my freebie paper pack I got from a craft magazine many moons ago  now.  I'm almost finished as there is only one page left with a few pieces of the other pages too.  The black really shows up the lacy tape.

WOYWW 200

This is what is on my worktray for WOYWW this week - guess who wanted to be in the middle of the crafting area on my bed then?!?!?! Yep, you guessed it, our little Domi.  She loves to be in the middle of everything wondering when her next meal will be.  Her thyroid problem is costing me a fortune!!  She's worth every penny though so I don't mind.

As I didn't manage to get on in time for WOYWW last week, here's what was on the tray - full of Easter treats!  All waiting to be made into something so I just had to share it with you all.  Of course, I can't eat any of them, but it was nice smelling the chcolate as I made them into......

Chcoclate Bunny Treat Packs!!!  Well, with help from Domi of course LOL!  I thought they looked really cute all together.  I used some "Accessorize" stickers to make their lovely noses.  Each one has a different expression and those teeth really make me laugh!  I used card candi to make the little paws.

All of the recipients enjoyed the chocolate treat bunnies - Domi loves giving little pressies too.  She manages to stretch her pocket money really well don't you think?!?!!?

Oh dear, I think I hear the tumbleweed moving as the men in the white coats try to locate me!
