WOYWW 243 - I'm back...kind of.....

Well after a long absence, which included two operations and numerous dialysis treatments, I'm now starting to get into a sort of routine. It's life changing having dialysis, but I'm getting used to it I suppose.

The main thing I missed was crafting and my crafting buddies on WOYWW, but I'm trying to get back into doing some small items. Mainly colouring as I'm not allowed to lift anything with my Fistula arm after my operation on Wednesday.

It didn't go well as the regional block didn't work and I felt every cut until they knocked me out with a general...phew....thank heavens for that!!!

So here's one of my efforts, a little elephant, stamped twice and decoupaged with some glitter. Boy do I miss our little old lady kitty Domi when using glitter. She usually ended up with more on her than I did and that's saying something!!! We miss her every day.....

Here's a completed card I made for a friend who is also running a charity and I make crochet blankets for her. I'm hoping to start doing some when on dialysis, should get loads done with just sitting for hours on end, unless the machine gets set off by the movement I suppose. Will have to try it and see, have a test run!

Another question, does anyone have a pattern for lacy wrist warmers? My hand is so cold after the fistula operation and it might get worse so anything to keep them warm and stop them going numb would help! Thanks!

It'd be great to hear from anyone who remembers me after all this time!

Happy Crafting everyone! :-)

Golden Wedding Card

If you saw my previous posting, you'll know all about this card!!  I had lots of golden items on my worktray and it was a while before the idea came into my head of what I was going to do with it all to finish my card.

It's a combination of matt and shiny gold, and as you can see, I had enough of the matt card to make three more flowers (just) after my disaster with the trimmer. Phew!!!

I coloured the edge of the hearts with a Promarker, can you believe the "Gold" one was nothing like Gold so I used "Sunflower" instead!!!

Enjoy!

Thank You!

After winning all those lovely paper pads after being the "Star Letter" in the Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine, I just had to say "Thank You" with one of my cards didn't I.  Being brung up wiv manners this is typical of me!

I found this gorgeous piece of backing paper in a parcel sent from the lovely Gill.  I'll have to find out where she got it as it's just perfect for so many cards!!!  I got the felt flowers as a bargain from a cheapie shop.  They are very well made and I couldn't believe it when I saw them so got a few colours all at the same time!

I backed the butterflies with vellum and coloured it with my Promarkers to match the paper.  I can post this as I've already sent it off to the Editor.

I hope you like it too.

Enjoy!

Two more for the charity card box!

This is a little cutie!  I used a freebie embossing folder I got with a craft magazine and then cutout a shape using my spellbinders I won in a competition!  Not bad huh!  Offcuts of paper from my little envelope and I had the flowers done.  I've had the brads for ages, and am soon running out of them.  There wasn't so much choice then as there is now, but I still go back to my old favourites!

A male card completed here.  The backing tape measure is actually washi tape that was another freebie from a magazine!  I do love those freebies, they help my charity cardmaking in so many ways.

The stamp was purchased in a sale a few moons ago now.  It's so easy to colour and looks just like those tree houses we had as kids (ours was the garden shed really made into a den!).

Memories are just great sometimes aren't they!

Hope you're all keeping cool!

WOYWW 213 - What IS That...?!?!

Welcome to WOYWW! So what is this mess on my work trays you ask???  Well, I won some candy and in it was lots of lovely strips of glitter paper - my first thought was - what the hell am I going to do with those? Then I stopped, thought about it and .....

Voila!!!  I came up with the idea of putting them on a piece of waste cardstock from some packaging I had (Recycling Queen does it again!). At first I interwove them but I didn't have enough of the colours to do a whole piece of cardstock, so I just decided on the stripes instead.  You will see this soon as a backing on a card I've got plans for!

Lastly, here is the card I made which you saw on my WOYWW previously.  Julia - you are right - it was a bone.  I added the little bones all over the card - you can just see them in the photo (sorry light wasn't too good).  I just love this stamp set, so many good uses for different cards.

Gill, you might recognise the bone from one the lovely packages you sent me.  I always use every last bit if I can!  Recycle Queen again!

Have a great WOYWW everyone and I'll be putting on my best Visitors Hat soon!

Enjoy!

WOYWW 211

Hello and welcome to WOYWW!!!! It's our chance to snoop at desks around the crafting world and see what everyone else is up to!  Don't worry if you don't have  a desk, I work from trays on my bed, so anything will do!

Sorry I didn't make it last week, a good friend of mine died after a seven year fight with cancer, it certainly puts everything into perspective and every day I am so grateful my cancer is stable and I am still here to help raise funds for charities with my cardmaking.  I also had a bad outer ear infection and the tennis elbow is still playing up, but hey, I'm still here and that is the main thing.  You just learn to live with pain and get on with life and crafting helps me a lot to cope with that.

So what is on my tray today?  It's a card I've just put together with offcuts and the backing paper was free in a magazine for Fathers Day.  It's ideal for a male card and this one is going to be so ta-dah - perfect timing!

I've got a few ideas in my head so as usual I've got a few things on the go at once.  It keeps my little grey cell working!

Happy WOYWW everyone!

Enjoy!

Recycled packaging is now made into cards!

Well here's the two finished cards I made using the 'mostly recycled bits' from the packing from the Pound Shop!  Not bad huh, I made six cards from the pack and then here are another two from the packaging and there are more to come too!  I used the freebie butterfly die cut from a cardmaking magazine and just added the rest along the way from my stash box!
Whilst rootling (is that a word?!?!?) in my stash box I found this little image and thought he deserved to be made into a card.  I made a notelet card out of this one.  The pink cardstock is from a £1 mixed bag from the bargain bin!

Weetabix Boxes (other cereal boxes are available too!)

Here's what I did with the Weetabix box you're all waiting to see (although this one is All Bran!).  I cut out two A6 sizes and used DST to tape them together.  It doesn't matter which side you tape, I just prefer the plain card on the outside.
I used my nesties to cut a shape in the cardboard.  You can use any shape you like but this one was to hand, perfect for male/female cards.
Put your card inside your embossing folder, and put the cardboard on the top of the embossing folder you have chosen.  Run it through your die cutting machine (I use a Cuttlebug and it worked fine).

Ta-dah!!! Here is your result!  It leaves a plain middle where the shape is on the cardboard.  I've made several different ones and some come out better than others.

Of course, don't forget - you can use the 'waste' part of the cardboard to use on other cards.  I embossed them and will add some colour and maybe some glitter or use my cosmic shimmer product (thanks to Gill for that - they are so easy to use!!).

I'll show you some of the finished cards later.  I've even used the cardboard inner of the packaging (remember I used the plastic box and embossed it for cards too!) and you will see that on the next set of cards I upload!).

Hope you all enjoyed this and I'd love to see your cards with using this card instead of buying items which costs loads of pennies which we don't have!!!  A crafter will always thing 'outside of the box' no pun intended!! LOL!!

Enjoy!

WOYWW 202

Sorry about the photo, it is a bit dark here!

Here's what is on my work tray today for WOYWW with Julia.  It's for a lovely friends birthday - I think it might be a big number this time!!!  How scary are they?!?!?!

I've got a few things going on here to be honest, I never work on just one card!  I usually have a few items ready for the next one that is being designed in my head!

If anyone knows what the name of this backing paper is, I'd love to know as I only have one sheet of it left (I got it in a bargain sale!).  You know me and my bargains!

Enjoy!

Some Easter cards and 'out of my comfort zone' cards!

Here's a not very good photo of some of my Easter cards. I showed you a few I made a couple of weeks back, but these were added when two people said to me "Do you have any spare Easter cards left?" so I had to make them quick!  I think they're cute though so my quick makes made Easter special.

This is something new to me.  First I don't normally make 'flower' cards, but thought I'd have a go at them as I just loved this freebie image I picked up.  I then used my circular nesties to cut out the middle flower and just coloured that one image.  I used foam pads to raise it up although you can't see it too well in these photos.

I used some of my freebie paper pack I got from a craft magazine many moons ago  now.  I'm almost finished as there is only one page left with a few pieces of the other pages too.  The black really shows up the lacy tape.

I hope you like them and enjoy!

Special Cards...

Here's the special cards I was working on in WOYWW the other week.  It's all animal related - my fave cards as you all know!  So I thoroughly enjoyed making them. I think I've used most things in my stash here....

Die cuts, peel offs, rubber stamps, card candi, glitter, stickers, sentiments, ribbon, punches, you name it and I think it's on there!

I just love these rubber stamp sets, they are so cute!  I added the special poem in using my PC.  It certainly was a labour of love that took me a while to make, but I loved it!

I also used this stamp, although it's a lot lot lot bigger than I thought it was!  I'll have to use it for my big cards mainly, although I've just had a lightbulb moment here!  I added the gold bottle charms on at the last minute.  It suited the card!  The cards have been given to the recipient now, so I can safely blog them!

Enjoy!

WOYWW 197

As it's WOYWW again....here's what is on my little work tray on my bed.  It's another 'doggy' card and part of a flower I was trying something out on.
Not much too exciting that I can show you at the moment, although the special cards I was making before will soon be uploaded for you all to see - so come back and check them out!!!

A bit of sunshine here today, mixed with black rain clouds and very very cold wind along with some snow too - typical English day then...LOL!!!!

Keep warm everyone and Happy WOYWW!

Happy Birthday Brother!!!

Here's the completed card you saw the beginnings of on WOYWW this week.  I had some cute little beer cans and decided to make some "Beer Bunting" for the embossed part of the card.  It took a while to get all the little cans pointing the same way.

I already had a sentiment stamped so layered it onto some gold card and it then matched the gold die cut stars I used to edge the embossed part of the card.  I also added in a little peel off.  I searched all of them and couldn't find one with Brother on...so I used this one instead.  The Beer Monster is a cute digi I've had for a while and suits all mens cards!

The second card (which Domi showed you the beginnings of with the Cuttlebug by her paw!) is a hand designed camera made from card in my 'bits bag'. She used little bits of mirror card and also some jazzy peel off lines.  She added the cute little Chester, purely because she liked him!!  Why query a cats thoughts..... oh dear....I think I need to check my medication is right!! LOL!!!

A big thank you to Gill, who has sent me some lovely cards to add to the charity box, ready to be taken with some gorgeous items from Jan for their Spring Sale.  Thanks to you both!

Enjoy!

Here's some of the finished Easter cards I started on WOYWW last week.  It's been fun making all the bright and spring like cards, nice and colourful.
Hope you like them, of course, now I've finished making them I've had another idea but it will have to wait for now as my head is spinning a bit with ideas at the moment.  My hands are a bit better, it comes and goes, so am hoping to add to the charity box collection real soon.

Enjoy!

WOYWW 164

Another WOYWW comes swinging by...!!  Go and have a look at Julia's desk, it has sunshine on it - how amazing is that?!?!?!  If you check it out, watch out, you might become addicted!!!!

Here's a nice clean'ish tray on my work-bed for you all.  I've really got into this MS PATP and it sets a card off nicely.  It's a bit too girly for male cards, so I need to find a set which is more male orientated.  Any ideas?  I used another punched piece as the base for the wedding card (see previous post) where I was searching for bronze card for ages.  Yes, it's finally finished, go and check it out!
The little PB kitties are destined for a Wedding Anniversary card which will be posted for real and also in the virtual world which is this blog of mine!  I just love this stamp, it's one of my favourites.

I had some offcuts from the wedding card in my 'offcuts bag' so as I always try to use up all the little bits they were left to inspire me.

Keep cool and carry on!

Enjoy!

The other Wedding Card...

Sorry the photo isn't very good on this one, it's the other wedding card I made which you saw the makings of on my WOYWW desk.  I've now got another wedding card to make (they all come at once don't they!).
Any ideas appreciated....!!

A lttle Sherbet Pip...!!

First I'd like to thank you all for the lovely comments, the good karma wishes from around the world are working.  One of my hospitals rang up and said not to come today, but come on Monday instead, so a couple of days free....yahooooo!!!!!
Do you remember Shertbert Pips - mmmmm - lovely!!!   I got some of these delightful Pips for Christmas, and I think this one is called "Honey Pip".  This is also one of my first efforts at doing clouds - I'm getting there.  What do you think?

I'm going to add this to the "Snippets Challenge" and keep my fingers crossed that it works this time.
Thanks again for the lovely comments from all of you who care, it's like a big blanket of hugs around my poorly body!

Remember this card from a while back - does anyone know where the butterflies are from?  Are they a punch? or a die cut?  If anyone could tell me, I'd appreciate it.  I'm doing another special wedding card and need some more butterflies quick!!!

Enjoy!

A Birthday Card for Gill.....

Luckily I've already for a few cards I've made which I can post to help the DVT leg again.

I made this one for my wonderful friend Gill.  It's a real "Snippets" card and I've used lots of bits and pieces from my stash on here.  I was given the little bee many moons ago, and the wooden embellishment came from The Craft Fairy.

As the birthday has been and gone, I can now post the card on my blog.

Enjoy!

Rudolph Day!

Yes, it's that time again - Rudolph Day!!!  I managed to get some stamping one and decided to add in this little cutie I got in the sale recently.  I've had this one on my "Wish List" for ages, and am so pleased to find it in the sale!  Bargain!

I used an oddment of backing paper I had, added some white card which I'd used my Martha Stewart punch on to make it look like a lace band and added some sparkly green ribbon (again another bargain, but the shop has closed now so no more bargains from there I'm afraid).

Enjoy!

Gorgeous kitties....!!

Yes, I've got another kitty stamp here.  I've been waiting to get this one for ages and finally got it when I went to a craft sale a while back. It's a Penny Black cling called "Dear Friend" and it's so cute isn't it.
It was the one and only card I made in this session as I just didn't feel 100% at all.  I used some of my pre-made white flowers which I've added "Lace Stickles" to so that it has some bling about it.  Also added a wooden butterfly embellishment which was from the "Craft Fairy" along with lots of other things to help my charity cardmaking received a while back.

Sorry I don't know the name of the backing paper, it was a "Candy Win" many moons ago.  It was the only one I had left like that too which is a real shame as it's so useful for many different cards.
I'm adding this one in to the "Snippet Challenge" and hope I manage to get it all right this time.  Fingers crossed huh!

Enjoy!
