Special Card - Auntie's 80th Birthday again...

Here's the finished product you all saw on a previous WOYWW posting.  I decided on a swing card and just made the measurements myself using the nestie I wanted to use as an idea of the size.  I then cut it and hoped for the best as it was my last piece of pearlised card.  Phew, it worked out OK!
Here it is flat so you can see what is on the front.  I used a variety of things from my stash, peel offs (must've had a lot of 80th things going on as they've all gone now so you can only have a handmade card from me if you're under 80 or 90 and above now!!!)  I did my usual trick of colouring the brads with nail varnish to suit the colour scheme better.  Some pretty little stick on flowers instead of gems made the butterflies body a bit different to normal.  My one and only flourish die came in useful again!
Here's the verse - this card is for Mum to give to her Sister, so the verse is just right for an 80th I think.

Hope you all like it and watch out for the next one.  I seem to be making more complicated cards lately, so it takes me longer to do, hope you don't mind waiting!

Enjoy!

Thought I'd add this card into the following challenges:

Bows'n'berries
Critter Challenge
Hippity with Ippity
Heartsong Inspirations
Incy Wincy Designs
Make It Monday
My Craft Spot
Nettie G's Challenge
Oh La La Creations
Stamps + Fun = Creativity
Paper Cupcakes

Fingers crossed!

Well Done on your Achievement Award!

I decided to make this Congrats card after hearing a good friend of mine who is 91 - has just completed her Achievement Award in her computer class.  How amazing is that..!?!?!!?  I think it's brilliant and she could teach a few others that computers aren't scary!

A digi image from Bugaboo (I think!), coloured with Promarkers (what else!) and then matted and layered onto a Nestie, some super star background paper (thanks to Gill..!!) and I used a funky foam star I already had in my stash along with my bargain sentiments (50p!).

Enjoy!

Not Your Usual Congrats Card

OK, I know this is an unusual one but I thought I'd add it and see what everyone thinks. A friend in the USA has just finished her cancer treatment and in many hospitals over there, a tradition is to ring a bell to signal the end of the treatment regime.
I made this card to congratulate her on the end of the treatment. I hope she likes it, I've seen blogs about the bells in several places since she told me about hers.
Do you think the cancer charities would like a card like this here in England? I'd love to know what you all think. Send me a comment to tell me......yay....or....nay....!
Thanks!

Welcome to your New Home

I don't make New Home cards that often, I've got a few peel offs for them so maybe I'll make some for the charity cards. It'll make a change from Birthday and Best Wishes!

SHOPPING LIST

Here's what you need to make this card:

  • Print off the flower background paper from the Popcorn The Bear CDROM from http://www.crafterscompanion.co.uk/
  • Print off the Bear with the Curtains (I thought this would suit a new home!) and pyramage him
  • Add some green stripy background paper to show off the sentiment (Good Luck in your New Home ) - you can just about see it in the photo - sorry!
  • Add faux stitching around the green stripy paper using a Glitter Pen (Sainsburys)
  • Add an overloaded car peel off at the bottom right hand side of the card
  • Finito!

A lovely card to welcome someone to a new home - hope they like it!

New Job

The perfect card for a Doctor friend of mine who has just got a new job, including this new super long title to go with it!

SHOPPING LIST

Here's what you need to make this card:

  • I snaffled this image from the internet, sorry I don't know which site but it was perfect for what I needed!
  • Add silver peel offs saying "Best Wishes" and "Good Luck" down the sides to 'bling it' a bit
  • I had some stickers left over from the "Doctors Coat" card I made earlier from CraftWork and put the ambulance and the white coated Doctor on there and voila, a new card was finished!
  • On the inside of the card, I criss crossed two sticking plasters just to finish it off

Easy peasy!

Charity Cards - Baby Congratulations

I've made quite a few of these little cardigan cards after I was given a bag of them to use up - also I've since made quite a few of my own too, they are SOOOOO easy to do once you get the hang of it.
If you've still got some wool in your craft stash somewhere, give it a go, tiny needles are best then you can easily transfer them to the cocktail sticks.

I use plain beads on the ends and file the sharp points off mine. Health and safety, health and safety, got to be aware of that these days!!! LOL!!!

It only takes small scraps of wool and they look so effective don't you think?

SHOPPING LIST

Here's what you need to make this card:

  • Small scraps of pastel coloured wool - unless you know whether it's a boy or girl!
  • Create the small cardigan and use some extra wool to make a small ball of wool for the card
  • Use any cardstock you have in the appropriate colour (pink, blue, lemon, white, cream etc)
  • I printed this background off a freebie from the internet - plain A4 paper can make four a6 card backgrounds so very economical for charity cards!
  • Various embellishments to add to the card, epoxy stickers (from a company called Scrapperware), Nesties, mini envelopes containing cards saying "It's a Boy/Girl" peel offs and flowers on the front
  • Bits and bobs from the stash box - anything can be used so nothing is wasted!

Have fun!

For the Doctors you know....

This card was made for a special friend of mine who is a Doctor and this time I wanted to make something totally different so went for the Doctors coat which they wear all the time. It even had a stethoscope and syringe in the pocket!

I made the shirt from blue cardstock and made a snazzy tie to match. Not bad for a 'design it yourself' type card huh.

I'd found some "medical" 3D stickers and they were perfect for this! The details will follow in the ingredients if you find they could be useful for someone you know.

INGREDIENTS
  • White cardstock for the Doctors coat using a gatefold style folding (I think that's what it's called anyway!)

  • Blue cardstock for the shirt (from my stash)

  • The tie was made from a small piece of embossed white card with gold diamonds on it - perfect!

  • Stickers (x-ray, syringe, stethoscope etc) called Craft Work Craft Stickers and are from a company in Hertfordshire. That's the only information on the packaging, sorry.

  • Inside the shirt I added an x-ray sticker to the left hand side and on the right side made a sentiment using scalloped circles matted and layered and used peel offs for the actual sentiment

Perfect for any Doctor or Lab Worker that you may know. Or even could be used as a Congratulations card for a medical graduate.

Have fun!
