WOYWW 260, still catching up...!!!

Welcome to WOYWW 260!!!

Hello to everyone who is staying with me during my adjustment to dialysis :-)

I've been told it can take anything from 1-2 years, perhaps longer. So this is going  to be one helluva adjustment time!  As long as I can still do some card making, that keeps me sane so here's what I've been working on lately!

I've made a few of these for the lovely Nurses who have been looking after me on dialysis.  I like to say thanks and I also gave out a few tins of chocolates for them too.  They all work so hard and deserve a treat! Also not forgetting the ambulance drivers who get me to dialysis, without them I wouldn't get there at all. I don't think they get many cards as they were really chuffed to get mine and it's been up in the ambulance ever since! Nice to be appreciated!

I was asked by a friend of my Aunt's if I could make a selection of "Thanks" and "Get Well" cards, and here are a selection of the ones I've made for her to choose from. I will put the rest into my charity cardmaking box to raise money for them.

Some are variations of each other, depending on what paper/card combinations I had left. I don't like to waste any bits of paper/card as you can tell. My pockets aren't never ending so I use them all up to help the charities.

All of the cards are definitely straight (says Mrs OCD!) it's just the camera has shown them at odd angles! Sorry about that.

On the following two cards I had a go at making the envelopes out of paper too! Not bad for a first attempt!  They weren't standard sizes so I made them an approximate size.

The following cards are special ones I made for my best friend, she died from cancer at only 45 years of age. These are for her Mum and Dad and her Aunt. It's my friends birthday soon and I want to let them know I haven't forgotten her. I never will.

I do hope they like them and I'd love to know what you think too if you have a moment.

Well that's it for now. I hope it won't be so long next time before a posting, but it all depends on how dialysis makes me feel.  It's just a case of taking it one day at a time at the moment as I never know how it's going to make me feel.

Take care everyone and hope you managed to get some crafting done on this grey, cold, wet Bank Holiday Monday!

Enjoy! Keep smiling and keep crafting everyone!

Thank You!

After winning all those lovely paper pads after being the "Star Letter" in the Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine, I just had to say "Thank You" with one of my cards didn't I.  Being brung up wiv manners this is typical of me!

I found this gorgeous piece of backing paper in a parcel sent from the lovely Gill.  I'll have to find out where she got it as it's just perfect for so many cards!!!  I got the felt flowers as a bargain from a cheapie shop.  They are very well made and I couldn't believe it when I saw them so got a few colours all at the same time!

I backed the butterflies with vellum and coloured it with my Promarkers to match the paper.  I can post this as I've already sent it off to the Editor.

I hope you like it too.

Enjoy!

Thank You Auntie!

I made this special card for my Auntie, we went to have a scrumptious Sunday Lunch with her, and I made dessert - a Banoffee Pie!  I know, very naughty, but you have to have something special every now and then!

I constructed the flowers out of card and added some Cosmic Shimmer Pearls to the stamens to make them stand out.  My only problem is getting them to dry without kitty deciding to sit on them on the worktray on the bed! I achieved it this time! Yay!

A while back I ordered some new stamps and in with the stamps, they enclosed some die cuts - I've just been putting some of them to good use for my Charity Card Box.  I've had this backing paper for many years, even before I started cardmaking!  It's just perfect for this hot air balloon which I backed with some holographic card I have in my stash.

This cute little bear came from I don't remember where now.  He's in my little box of stamped images I've been sent at different times.  I use them to make Charity Cards as you know and he's so cute.  I'm not sure of the make as it was sent to me. If anyone knows, please tell me and I'm going to add him to my Wish List - which is growing ever longer by the day LOL!!

Enjoy!

WOYWW 176

Sorry there's no workdesk this week.  I have been making cards, but just forgot to photograph the worktrays on my workbed (as it's now called!).  Above is one of the "Thank You" cards I made which you saw the makings of in my last WOYWW posting.
I seem to have made quite a few lately and here's two more tea cup ones to say "Thank You" for the wonderful time we had at a restaurant with some dear friends I have known for many years.
Another tea cup card, in a different colourway this time, doesn't it change the look of the card a lot.  I wanted a quick way of making them and this came together in a flash as I can't sit for long at the moment as you all know.
Finally, here's another "Thank You" card, with a poorly bear on it -- you can guess where this one is going can't you!!!

I hope to remember the camera when I'm using my worktrays on my workbed next time!

Enjoy WOYWW!

WOYWW 163

First of all a BIG THANK YOU to Queen Julia for the absolutely gorgeous Christmas Cards she sent me for the charities - such a lovely inspirational parcel there!!!  They will love them at the Christmas Fayre, of that you can be sure!

Well not a lot is going happening on my WOYWW worktrays at the moment, just a few different papers I was sorting through, ready to make more animal cards for the charities next fayre.

I did try to craft on the bed but found it a bit difficult - it was the same with the last DVT.  I'll be posting some "cards I made earlier" soon though,

I'm off on a wander now, have fun everyone!

Enjoy!

Just to say Thanks!

I made this card for a lovely lady I know at one of my many hospitals I frequently visit.  I had a nightmare journey to my latest appointment and in the end traffic made it so bad we had to turn back after being told my Consultant was only doing an AM clinic so we wouldn't make it anyway....argghhh!

Anyhow, this might seem a strange card to give, but believe me, it will make her smile and I really do appreciate all she does to help, so a little Thank You goes a long way!  Oh and yes, she is a black belt, three times over!!!

Enjoy!

WOYWW 147

Wow these WOYWW sure do come around quick!  Here's what I've been up to - more Easter bits, a new "Thank You" card with a difference and a blank piece of card just waiting to be made into something creative.

Sorry it's not a long posting this week, my blood is up way too high again on the DVT front, it's back to weekly blood tests again.  I'm not sure if it's the DVT or the diabetes or something else that is making me so tired, but I could sleep for England at the moment!!!

Night night everyone....LOL!!!

A little bit of crafting done....

Happy New Year to everyone - I hope you all had a good time and got some lovely crafty presents too!  Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me during this problem time with my health.  It;'s not over yet but at least I've done some crafting!
Back to some gentle crafting after a lonngggggg break.  I'm not back doing much yet due to the DVT in my leg, but I tried making these Thank You Cards and they came out OK.
I used my PATP bargain I got before Christmas.  I'm so pleased it's working better now and I can just about do it with my carpal tunnel riddled hands.  I have to take lots of breaks, which is fine as it gives me a chance to go on a wander around to keep the DVT happy!

I had loadssssss of lovely crafty goodies for Christmas so hopefully you will be seeing some of them soon when I can do a bit more when sitting.  I just have to be careful, as I'm sure you all understand.  I don't want to take too many risks with the DVT, but it won't stop me crafting totally which is the main thing.

Whilst I've been off the "Card making" I've still been crafting, and have been making crocheted blankets for the local Animal Shelter, and took many christmas paper wrapped parcels to them, along with some food all wrapped up too for the animals.  It all helps and I don't mind being called a mad cat woman!!  Well sometimes I don't!

Thank You Ambreen!

I nade this post "draft" but thought I'd post it here now as I'm just getting back into blogging after a break due to my ill health.  Thanks for sticking with me everyone!

A card which I made ages ago and sent to my lovely friend Ambreen but it didn't arrive so I thought I'd blog the post instead and show her what she never got, sorry Ambreen.  At least you can see part of what I sent to you!
I've got better access to my CB, so I made good use of it and cut out several digi images using the Dies that Di sent to me.  I had some 'crinkle paper' for ages now and thought I'd give it a go through the CB and it worked fine.
Added some dotted backing paper to go with the flow of circles and dots and then just added some dotty ribbon (think it's a Hobbycraft one I've had for ages - good quality, so it must be old!).  Added some gems in the shape of flowers to match the pink colour and there it is - done.
I actually sent this card to Ambreen, but as it's been quite a while now, and she's not got it, it's sad isn't it.  I put a little gift in there too, but nothing arrived.  That's the post for you!

Enjoy!

Thank You!

Just a note to say thanks to all of you who have taken the time to comment on my little digis I've been making for you all to use in your cardmaking.  It's very much appreciated and makes all the effort worthwhile.  Of course, I'd love to see anything you make with them, it brightens up the day to see new cards being made, specially if they have my digis on them!!!

Also I'd like to welcome all my new followers!  Hello everyone and welcome to my little piece of Blogland!

Enjoy - and keep crafting!!!

Thank You Cards

I saw these digi's and just HAD to have them. They are just SO cute! I tried to get them as a rubber stamp, but everywhere I tried they had sold out. So I emailed the designer (Mo Manning of course!) and she replied telling me about the digi images - so I got those instead.
They are just perfect for any cat lovers out there, you can just imagine how indignant the cat feels but he still has a smile on his face despite the loving hug from the child! There are little girls (tomboys!) and boys.
I made these using a new punch I got for Christmas, from EK Success I think it is. Despite their size they are very good and easy to punch, although I did struggle with certain card weights so now know which ones it's best on!
The purple CS was just run through the old CB and used as a backing paper. Some peel offs, and some prima flowers just finished it off.
Thanks for looking!

Thank You Cards

At the same time as seeing the lovely kitty with the boy/girl (in case you want them they are called Patience and Tolerance) I also got these lovely images of a little boy lying on his dog, there is also a girl which I purchased too, but haven't uploaded them yet - they will follow!
As you can see, I've been using the punch a fair bit - I had to pack all my craft stash away ready for Christmas, so only have the basics out currently.
Amazing what you can do with a few items huh!

Charity Card - Thank You

A fairly simple card that looks quite effective, well I think so!

I had some images and was trying out my H20's for the first time, hence the heavy handedness of the yellow!!! Mind you, it looks good with solid colours too so I'm not complaining!

SHOPPING LIST

Here's what you need for this card:

  • Purple cardstock
  • Simple purple flower doodles (I think this was Floral Doodles a freebie I got many moons ago)
  • Purple flowers sent by Crafty Ange - she sent me a bag of 'bits and pieces' and I love to see how I can use them for the charity cards
  • "Thank You" image was a freebie (from Dustin Pike I think!)
  • Coloured with H20's - from Di and Jan - thanks for those - love them!
  • Foam pads were used to give him some height
  • Cuttlebugged (spots embossing folder) was used on a Nestie oval scallop and added some yellow glitter dots on the scallops - you can't see them too well, so perhaps I should've used a deeper colour

Hope you like him!

Thank Ewe!

I made this card for a lovely little man called George, he's the son of my friends Nick and Jo and he loves receiving envelopes with his name on through the post! Mind you, so do I....! Still a kid at heart I suppose.
Ingredients
  • 6" x 6" Corrugated paper styleee (from Tesco's Make Your Own Christmas Card Set!)

  • Gold Magic Mesh

  • Gold Card Candy (from my very good friend Di...thanks Di...!)

  • Silver holographic card shaped with a "Rounder Punch" for the background of the sheep

  • White card flower tag shape (used for his body and the ribbon hole can be hidden!)

  • White card scraps for his head and ears

  • Black card scraps for his legs

  • Black Fineliner Pen to add the "fur" on his body and head

  • Black card scraps for the "Thank You" tag (I would normally add Thank Ewe but as this was for a little boy I didn't want to confuse his spelling!)

  • White Gel Pen to add his "feet" and the handwritten "Thank You" sentiment

Hope you like him!

My First Blogger Post!

My first Blogger post just has to say a HUGE BIG THANK YOU to Jo from Siggshop for designing my blog background and header for me. It is absolutely fantastic and a mere thank you doesn't seem enough. Thank you SO much Jo!
